The mechanical quality of the feeder and the performance of its numerical control will have a great impact on the productivity of your company’s press feed line. Under no circumstances can the feeder limit the productivity of the press feeding line. Through its dynamics, accuracy and reliability, the feeder must allow the belt to move in the shortest possible time, and thus the maximum working stroke for the tool setter.

Functionality

Connection to the press.

The feeder can be attached to the press with a fixed mounting bracket, manually height-adjustable, motor-operated, or on an independent motor-operated frame for the largest units.

  • Material thickness from 0.1 mm (4 thou) to 10 mm (0.4 in.)

Long feeding line.

Most efficient, fastest, used with delicate materials.
The sheet straightener and press feeder are used separately in this line, and there is a short circuit between them, which is controlled by our CNC operation control system. The feeder and press have the ability to operate at maximum speed with smooth and continuous feeding of the sheet metal. The feeder’s feeding speed is controlled automatically by the software.

Short feeding line.

The operation of straightening the sheet metal and feeding it to the press in one compact solution.
We use a rear loop solution. For specific applications, we use servo drives at the unwinding of sheet metal from the coil and at the feeder to the press.
Today’s challenge is to achieve short runs at the lowest possible cost.

Advantages

Feeder acceleration.

In most applications, belt travel time depends more on feeder acceleration than on its maximum speed. Thanks to optimized kinematics, Coiltech feeders can achieve an acceleration of 25 m / s2 and a maximum speed of 200 m / min.
 The roll release is operated by a solenoid valve and special pneumatic cylinders or 2 cylinder-controlled hydraulic cylinders, which provide a rotation speed of up to 300 rpm. Up to 1000 copies per minute can be achieved with mechanical release control. All Coiltech controllers have a special maintenance screen showing real-time input/output status.

Mobile unit design.

Such levels of performance can only be achieved through extremely careful design of all feeder components. The rudder body – the moving part of the feeder, consists of a cast-iron structure made with great precision. It is precisely guided by needle bearings and thrust ball bearings mounted on 2 pivots. The release stroke is limited by a mechanical stop, adjustable according to the thickness of the belt.
Motion is transmitted to the upper roller by the original 4-tooth kinematic chain. Bounce in the gear is very low, regardless of metal thickness.

HI-Q rollers.

For the best grip and long life, all rollers on Coiltech feeders are hardened, ground in micrometers, then hardened and chrome plated at 70 HRC. On the largest movements for better dynamics, the rollers are tubular and supported by support rollers.

Precision.

All Coiltech feeders are equipped with low-inertia brushless motors and reduced-backlash gears. Feed accuracy will therefore be determined mainly by the quality of the signal measurement and processing sequence. The use of a complete electronic package (sensors, motors, PLCs) from the same component manufacturer among the world leaders, ensures exceptional reliability and positioning accuracy (± 0.05 mm)
Coiltech feeders can be equipped with OMD option suitable for developing delicate materials (pre-painted, galvanized, copper, mirror, aluminum…).

Protection.

An additional feed measurement device can be installed on the belt, either below the CRM / B or above the CRM / T. This sensor makes it possible to monitor the slip between the feed motor encoder measurement and the actual passage of the belt in real time.
In this way, any malfunction of the tool or press can be detected, cause an immediate stop or prevent damage to the installation.

Mounting to the press.

The feeder can be mounted to the press in two ways. The first is by means of a fixed mounting bracket which is manually adjustable in RCH height and actuated by the RMH-C motor. The second way is an independent frame, activated by the RMH-S motor for the largest equipment. The brain of the feeding line is thus digital control. It optimizes the operation of the various machines and communicates with the other parts of the feeding line. So we see that the terminal is the main component of the man-machine interface.
The choice of control will be made according to the size, number and complexity of the various components of the cutting line (decoiler, straightener and other peripherals). The required degree of automation and communication and the customer’s available budget will also be taken into account. He will be able to find a system that fits his application among the four controllers.
